  • We are resolutely Democratic Socialists. Reclaiming our American roots, which have been erased over time, is one of our main goals. We know we stand on the shoulders of giants, from Bernie Sanders to Eugene Debs. We remember the history of our country — from the Labor Movement to fighting authoritarianism to the New Deal —Democratic Socialism is woven through American History.

We unabashedly support healthcare as a human right and the liberation of Ukraine. We reject the horrors of genocide placed on Palestine and bigotry in all forms. We want a clean earth with drinkable water and breathable air, support the working class, and condemn the radical authoritarian notions of the conservative movement, including the use of secret police and the stifling of our unalienable rights enshrined in the United States Constitution.

This is not “radical”; these are common-sense positions made to celebrate our way of life.

We are now the new generation of leadership ready to take on the mantle of our times, to reject extreme nationalism, religious bigotry, or any other anti-American behavior. We are from many, one. A coalition built by one people. We are those who are here to continue the great experiment begun by our forebearers to create a more perfect union. To find the path to having the most of one's life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.

This is not a philosophy born of authoritarian nonsense, or “Communist” agitation.

No, this is a movement of radical optimism and common sense. Americans are much smarter than most politicians think. Illinoisans deserve a living wage and their rights to be respected. That our fellow Illinoisians want economic & social justice not only for themselves but for their fellow neighbors. We believe in our better angels — that people are more good than they like to admit, and even better when they work together.

  • We understand Illinois has struggled with pensions. We want to build solvency and invest in Illinois' small businesses. That means letting go of assets owned or run by bad actors, such as genocidal companies investing in atrocities in Gaza, companies supporting authoritarian ideas, or anyone supporting restrictions on Illinoisans' freedoms.

This approach is both ethical and sensible. Would you invest in companies sowing chaos among our citizens, or worse, profiting from suffering? Would you trust companies that fail due to poor management or follow Silicon Valley fads like AI? It's time to celebrate entrepreneurs and reinvest in what makes Illinois great: our citizens and our small businesses.

We are running a people-funded, grassroots campaign fighting for economic dignity for all Illinois residents. That means investing in our workers. We must increase tax incentives for small businesses to invest in their employees. Additionally, we must increase subsidies for small businesses in our state.

Our tax dollars should be invested in Illinois citizens — full stop.

  • America thrives on expertise. By encouraging students to keep their education local, especially through community colleges, we can strengthen Illinois's workforce and economy.

Expanding community colleges to offer four-year degrees at about $20,000 per bachelor's degree would make education affordable and accessible. Satnaam supports a bill for this expansion, which includes paid internships, accreditation, and hands-on vocational training.

Students fuel the local economies surrounding their educational establishments. This builds the need for housing & cultural institutions. Our small businesses depend on these locations, from our local Elgin Community College to Judson University.

Why wouldn't we want to bring more students to Illinois for an affordable and rigorous educational experience?

  • Education has been under attack for too long. We aim to revitalize the Illinois educational system by developing evidence-based, child-centered educational practices. We want to advance Pre-K statewide to help offset the cost of childcare for parents. Teachers must be supported with a statewide minimum pay. By moving to build laws requiring paid internships for student teachers, we can lessen the financial burden on young teachers.

Children with special needs and their families have long faced neglect. The state must support our most vulnerable, and Satnaam commits to upholding the ACA and ensuring the rights of every student and family are protected.

Evidence-based educational studies overwhelmingly demonstrate that hunger is one of the most significant challenges to our students' academic success. Breakfast and lunch should be provided free of charge to our public school students. We want to keep our Illinois dollars in Illinois, and by using progressive taxes to supplement educational food supplies and working with our farmers to create a farm-to-classroom table foodway.

Implementing a fair billionaire tax can fund these progressive educational initiatives. We also propose business tax incentives to directly support local school systems.

  • The rights endowed to citizens of the United States of America have not faced a threat as significant as the current political environment. Radical Republicans have enacted fascist-style destruction of our way of life. Secret police tactics are being used against Illinoisans, stoking fear especially close to home in Senate District 33.

We are seeing ICE raids against our own American citizens & lawful migrants under the guise of “law & order”. We have a president mad with power, using the tool of starvation against 42 million Americans. We have a Congress that has failed to lead, putting the already fragile healthcare system into freefall, pricing many Illinoisans out of their own healthcare. The longest governmental shutdown in American History.

    This must stop.

We stand with the growing progressive coalition moving against these un-American illegal acts. Our citizenry deserves to feel safe. We demand justice for our citizenry who have been disappeared. We demand justice for those who have been injured by authoritarian secret police. We demand our constitutional rights to be respected as Americans. We will not stop until all citizens of District 33 feel safe in their country.

  • Illinois Senate District 33 is comprised of an eclectic mix of city & rural areas. From farmland, suburban sprawl, and urban centers, our campaign aims to bring common-sense solutions to improving the quality of life for Illinoisians.

We aim to establish bike lanes throughout the district and promote the development of public transportation, including train lines, buses, and electric scooter rentals. We aim to establish a network of farmers' markets throughout the district, offering our citizens access to fresh food while supporting & celebrating our local farmers.

Victory garden seed banks will be supported by partnering with our hobbyists, farmers, and libraries. We aim to make it easier to fish & hunt as a means to supplement our foodways while protecting our beautiful environs, including the Fox River Valley, the numerous forest preserves, and the wild spaces in which we coexist.

No more uncontactable representatives. Satnaam promises real representational government with regular town halls, listening to our constituency, and protecting what matters most to them.

Property taxes are too high. For so long, the middle class has borne the brunt of taxes on everything from property to income. It is not only time to tax the billionaire class, but it is also time to build a progressive taxation system that will stem the tide of property tax hikes.

We will oppose the allocation or sale of local water and air resources to entities operating data centers, which would significantly increase resource consumption. We will initiate local regulation to prevent the exploitation of our resources for non-essential data and AI infrastructure.

  • Housing for Illinoisans should be for Illinoisans. Unused housing that benefits only the investor class will be taxed to support the development of affordable housing for low-income individuals. We aren’t going after your summer home or weekend lake house; we want to stop profiteering from the angst of having a shelter. This “model” of housing investment raises prices to unattainable levels for most Americans, fosters crime and lowers property values, and contributes to the scarcity of available properties on the market.

We aim to incentivize the development of small starter homes by offering tax breaks on raw materials, thereby providing maximum ease of access for our construction community. Through the progressive tax above, we could easily pay for those wishing to build in the greatest state in the nation.

It is common sense that families need housing. For too long, the echoes of the 2008 housing crisis have lingered, stifling those who build homes while real estate companies have reaped profits. We will move to tax companies like Zillow & Redfin that profit from the lack of housing they contribute to creating. We need more apartments, small houses, and other shelter opportunities for all Illinoisians. It’s time for those who helped create the problem to pay for the problem.

Food costs have become extremely high, while incomes have remained stagnant for decades. It is time to reclaim our economy to stop the extreme republican madness.

  • Illinois farmers are deeply harmed by extreme MAGA tariffs. The economic model proposed by the president's sycophants has done nothing but destroy our marketplaces, enact economic harm on our farmers & migrant workers, and stress our food supply to the brink.

Without farmers, there is no food; this is a simple truth.

Satnaam wants to reach out to farmers in the Illinois-33rd District to hear what they need right now, not “a few months from now” or “when the House opens again.” We need to support those who feed Americans, build our reliance on diverse biofuels, and build ecological well-being into our Illinois farmland. We want to support tax incentives & tuition reimbursement to build a new generation of farmers and provide emergency assistance to any farmer who fears losing their land.

We want to provide incentives to farmers that will not only support green energy solutions but also bring equitable economic opportunities to them, so we never again have to go through the cycle of a booming and busting market or be at the whims of a vengeful government.

We will not sit idle and watch our farmland be bought up by equity firms, mega-corporations uninterested in our culture, or even worse, foreign agents working to destroy America.

  • Cannabis can only help our economy if regulations allow it to reach its full potential. We propose expanding craft licenses, authorizing CBD and provisional shops in good standing to sell cannabis, thus supporting small businesses and job creation. We will allow licensed backyard cultivation and support outdoor farming of cannabis, as is permitted on the West Coast. With Illinois' prime farmland, simple reforms like these could drive significant economic growth for our citizens.

Why allow restrictive laws to limit this opportunity?
