Satnaam Singh Mago grew up blessed with a close family.
He was born and raised in Wayne, along with an extended family that included several generations living together. His grandparents at home taught him the importance of community and the value of looking out for one another, as well as for the larger world.
Oh, and he is especially proud of his nieces, nephews, and his dog Gobi.
Satnaam graduated from DePaul University with a degree in Marketing and has worked as a freight broker for ten years. In his job, he learned that everyone’s work matters. A freight broker depends on truck drivers, and truck drivers rely on forklift operators. This dependence on one another highlights Satnaam’s belief that supporting each other’s economic well-being strengthens the entire middle class.
Sikh means “student,” so Satnaam considers himself a seeker of knowledge. This fuels his belief in building an equitable education system that works for Illinois families. Through a robust education system, Illinois can build a better society, culture, and economy. Education drives innovation, fosters freedom of thought, and cultivates a resilient citizenry.
Satnaam believes everyone deserves access to food. His Sikh faith, which teaches that no one should go hungry, inspires his commitment to addressing food insecurity, especially as SNAP benefits are cut. This value underpins his fight for basic human needs.
Satnaam believes that in our great nation, no one should go hungry, face homelessness, struggle for healthcare, or feel anxious as bills climb. He is committed to advocating for Illinoisans and to bringing common sense and progress to Senate District 33.
